Sunday, May 18th at 3 PM.    NAUL presents Dr. Johan Snapper, Queen Beatrix Professor Emeritus of Dutch Language, literature and Culture with the University of California at Berkeley. He will give the NAUL's annual
Mariska Huynen Memorial Lecture entitled "He who saves a person saves a nation; a personal retrospective of the Holocaust in The Netherlands." Location is the Seaborg Room in the Faculty Club at U.C. Berkeley.

Sunday, March 16th at 3 PM.    NAUL presents Dr. Julie Hochstrasser, Associate Professor of Early Modern Northern European Art with the University of Iowa. She will give a lecture entitled "Dietary Decorum in the Dutch Golden Age: New Light on Still Life. The next two events are April 27, with the Belgian writer Lieve Joris, and may 18th with Professor Emeritus Johan Snapper with his personal retrospective on the Holocaust in the Netherlands. Sunday, February 24, 4 PM.   
 NAUL presents the Dutch language film  with English subtitles "May 6th"  directed by Theo van Gogh who was murdered before this film's release.  The film won the Neherlands Film Festival special jury prize.   The film is based on the events surrounding the 2002 assassination of Pim Fortuyn.  Crime scene witness Jim de Booy stumbles onto a complex conspiracy and finds that his life and the lives of everyone close to him are at risk.  Pizza and salad will be served. Sunday, January 27, 2 PM.    Featuring the Dutch language film "Kruimeltje"  the 1999 film by Maria Peters, after the book by Chris van Abkoude (1922).   Een feestelijke receptie volgt het programma.  Iedereen is welkom! Yolanda van Ecke, instructor of psychology  at both College of Marin and City College of San Francisco, and psychotherapist in private practice, will present a lecture on Attachment and Immigrants, drawing from research data collected on Dutch and Belgian immigrants in California.   The research results have been published in the Journal of Genetic Psychology, Carer Development Quarterly and Social Behavior and Personality.  Location U.C. Sunday, September 23, 3:30 PM. Documentary "L'Ami Hollandais" by Pieter Jan Smit about the friendship between the French writer Andre Gide and the Dutch writer and communist Jef Last, against the backdrop of  the political and cultural climate in Europe in teh 1930's.  During the journey they made together through the Soviet Union, Jef Last was increasingly influenced by the critical attitude of Andre Gide and realized that there was no point in clinging to an ideal that demanded increasing personal sacrifices.  There will be a special guest appearance by Jef Last's daughter Ankie Bajema.
